Museum Art Classes
These studios for students ages 4–18 combine a visit to the CMA galleries and art making in the classroom. Children can learn about the museum’s treasures while discovering his or her creativity in the process. Each week, classes visit the galleries, then experiment with different techniques based on the masterpieces they’ve discovered. Students learn by looking, discussing, and creating.

The ABCs of Art (ages 4–5) The elements of art are the building blocks for every artist. Explore line, shape, color, and more through drawing, painting, collaging, and constructing mobiles. The session ends with making expressive portraits and textural masks.
What’s Your Story? (ages 6–7) Meet the characters of the CMA: kings, queens, heroes, and fantastic animals. Create your own characters, settings, and stories with paint, ink, and even found objects.
Wonder-Fall Creations (ages 8–10) Celebrate fall by creating colorful oil-pastel landscapes, nature-inspired mobiles, paper-pulp paintings, glowing lanterns, bold prints, elegant books, and warm, wearable scarves.
The Museum’s Your World (ages 11–13) Travel through space and time in the galleries before you land in the studio, inspired and ready to work on your own creations. Experiment with a variety of materials and techniques as you develop your ideas and creative voice.
Painting Boot Camp (ages 14–18) Pump up your technical skills and flex your creative muscles as you explore a range of media and dig into color theory.
